Another Reason to Buy Local!

The following is taken from MaryJamesFarm magazine, Feb/March 2012 Issue:

THIS HONEY'S NOT SO SWEET
A third of all honey consumed in the U.S. is likely to have been smuggled in from China and India, containing high levels of heavy metals (because of the lead-lined storage containers) and illegal antibiotics. While the European Union has long barred shipments of honey from these countries, the U.S. lags behind. The FDA has said it "would not know about honey that has been banned from other countries." Richard Adee, of the American Honey Producers, called the FDA's response "absurd", saying the ban is far from secret, and adds, "Why are we a dumping ground for something that's banned in all these other countries?" This is just another example of how well the FDA "protects" the American population from tainted foods here, as well as imported foods from abroad. IT AIN'T HAPPENIN'!!

This is why we should all eat "local".  It's the ONLY way to know for sure who grows, handles, packages, and delivers the final products to your family's table.

And for local HONEY, there's only one source of pure, raw honey here in Elizabeth City, Pasquotank County, NC, and that is honey produced by Al & Bea Southworth, their Bayshore Honey brand. It's a great value at only $37 per gallon. If you'd like to purchase from them, you can contact Bea on FaceBook or by email at absouthworth@roadrunner.com.

It's the ONLY honey I use and recommend to all my friends.
